Here are some links for those of you who appreciate canal history and or canal engineering. The first one is a site that contains lots of good pics of the Pont Canal de Briare. The text is in French but it is worth translating on line. The author is Bruno our local lock keeper.

The second link shows the damage caused during WW2 when retreating French troops tried to stall the German advance at the Loire. It must have been awful to have to blow-up such a beautiful national monument.
