I`d suggest contacting Tony Finlay in Monasterevin . He raced for years and is a mine of information.

now thats a name from the past.........he would have been in some of the "old" cine film that was shown on Sat nite.;)

Think he raced a Morelli SE # 41 with a Carniti 65hp at the 1973 Irish Cmampionships at Sandy Bay ( L Neagh )

I vaugely remember something about Killaloe in the 60s or 70s, but I might be getting mixed up with waterski jumping (ie old ramp in river channel)

After our chat today I went looking and found this the handicap winner of the first powerboat race in Cork in 1903 "Scolopendra"is for sale,It would be great if we could bring her back between us all as the powerboat mascot.
Thornycroft's Scolopendra Harmsworth Trophy and the Yachtsman's Cup

Wooden Boats for Sale

This is the overall winner. It has not always been reported that women have been involved in the sport of motorboating from its earliest days.Posted Image
Dorothy Levitt was a pioneer motorist both on the road and the sea.

In 1903, in the inaugural Harmsworth Trophy, she piloted the winning launch, much to the surprise of other competitors.

I can drop into him anytime - I pass his house twice a day on my commute. He also did a lot of work for me on West Wind's outboard 2 years ago.

Let me know if I can help.

I remember going down to Killaloe as a kid in the late 60s to watch the ski jumping on that very ramp !
