Rule No. 1
You need only one flag to make new friends, e.g. when you cannot get a place at a crowded port or jetty. Hoist up the Gin Pennant and you will soon get waves and shouts from moored boats to come alongside.

Exception: If you are member of the RNVR Yacht Club you can use the following flag instead.

Rule No. 2
If you you don't want to make new friends while you are blocking the last free mooring spaces before and behind your vessel awaiting your later arriving pals you need the second important flag. Hoist up the "L" Flag (quarantine) and the space is reserved.
Rule No. 3
When a vessel pass you with to much speed you need the White Cross Flag for waving
or alternatively the Chequered Flag

Rule No. 4
There are no real other rules but keep your stern tidy! It is a good manner not to fly a flag of a foreign state, heritage, rugby team, pirate, gag, or otherwise except for the vessel’s national flag from the stern of your vessel.
